Crossing Accident Fatal to Father of Three Children

Shakespeare,Ont. — A father of three children was killed about a half mile from his home Oct. 22 when his car was involved in a collision with train No. 6 eastbound from Chicago to Toronto.

Ervin Zehr, 38, was driving his car on the third road east of this Ontario center when the collision occurred. The train knocked the wreckage of the car into a ditch over 200 ft from the crossing. Railway workers found pieces of the car as far as a half mile down the track.

Mr. Zehr had farmed near here for about 12 years. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Zehr of Crosshill, Ont.

Surviving besides his wife, the former Norma Bender, are three children, Marilyn, 9, Dianne, 8, and Robert, 2; his parents; one brother and one sister.

The memorial service was conducted at the East Zorra Mennonite Church by Rev. Dale Schumm.
