HENRY K. ZACHARIAS

Henry K. Zacharias was born June 8, 1890, near Hillsboro, Kan. He received his education in that community, where he was also reared.

On June 1, 1914, he was baptized at the First Mennonite church in Hillsboro, Kansas and became a member of that church. He transferred his membership to the Ebenezer church in Mountain View, Okla. in 1925, in which community he lived for nine years. He lived in Oklahoma for 18 years. He remained a member of that church until his death.

He was married to Marie Schmidt at the Tabor church near Goessel, Kansas on Oct. 24, 1926. While in Oklahoma we lived on a farm which he owned.

In 1935 he was very sick but God saw fit to restore him. For over four years, while living in Kansas, he suffered from asthma.

He wished to live, but was prepared to leave this world, which held much sorrow for him. He read the Bible every evening for our evening devotions. He spent the last weeks in reading songs and in prayer. He passed away Aug. 6, 1959, at 10:25 p.m. at the home for aged in Hillsboro.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Marie, two brothers, Jake and Aaron, one sister, Mrs. Mary Kasper, and one sister-in-law. Preceding him in death were his parents, Aaron [sic Aron] and Mary (Koehn) Zacharias, a brother, Abe Zacharias, two sisters, Susie Zacharias and Mrs. Sarah Overfelt and a brother-in-law, G. Kasper.

When his mother passed away she left the Scripture verse, Psalm 37:4, for him to rely on after her death. He claimed the promise given in this verse. — Mrs. Marie Zacharias.
