MINISTER IS FATALLY INJURED

Rev. Stephen D. Yoder is Fatally Injured in Automobile Accident.

Rev. Stephen D. Yoder, aged 69, pastor of the Mennonite church at Roaring Spring, Pa., was instantly killed on Sept. 18, by being run down by a truck operated by Wilmont Harclerode, 16, of Mann's Choice, near Point, Bedford Co. The youth drove over the crest of a hill and did not see the Rev. Yoder and a companion, William Amick, 58, in time to avoid the accident. he had been in Claysburg Saturday to conduct a funeral and after church services in the evening near Point, was enroute to the Amick home to spend the night when he met his death.

The Rev. Yoder was born Aug. 3, 1868 in Somerset Co., a son of Daniel C. and Barbara (Kaufman) Yoder. Rev. Yoder was twice married, his first wife, Mrs. Christian (Miller) Yoder having passed away a number of years ago. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Harriet (Ziegla) Yoder and a daughter, Abigail at home and four daughters to the first union: Mrs. Hattie Kaufman of Johnstown, Mrs. Sylvester Emigh and Euretta both of Roaring Spring, and Wilmetta of Washington, D. C. Also two brothers, Levi of Hollsopple and Samuel of Johnstown.

Funeral services were held on Sept. 21 at Roaring Spring Mennonite church with twelve ministers in the pulpit. Sermon by Rev. Swartz of Quakertown, in the presence of a large audience, showing the high esteem in which he was held. Interment in the Mennonite cemetery at Roaring Spring. — Belleville Times.
