Indiana Family In Highway Accident

7-MONTH-OLD DAUGHTER KILLED WHEN CAR LEAVES HIGHWAY IN KENTUCKY

Goshen, Ind. — A highway accident near Hopkinsville, Ky. involving the Henry M. Yoder family of Route 1, Millersburg, claimed the life of the Yoders' seven-month-old daughter, Ruth Elaine, and resulted in serious injuries to Mr. and Mrs. Yoder and another daughter, Kathryn, 5.

Funeral services for the infant girl were held Nov. 7 at the Pleasant Grove Conservative Mennonite church near here.

Mr. and Mrs. Yoder, both of whom received spinal fractures in the accident, were returned here by ambulance and are confined to the Goshen hospital. Kathryn was taken to Vanderbilt hospital, Nashville, Tenn. where she underwent surgery.

Mr. Yoder had recently quit his job at a local factory and the family was en route to Mississippi to engage in mission work when their car skidded on a slick highway, went down an embankment and crashed into a tree. A son Henry Jr., age 2, was not injured. Four other children had stayed at the Millersburg home and were to join the family later.
