Great Grandmother, 99, Dies at Hesston, Kan.

Hesston, Kan. — Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Yoder, 99, believed to be the oldest resident of the Hesston community, were held Sunday afternoon at the Hesston Mennonite church. Rev. Milo Kauffman and Rev. Peter Wiebe officiated, and burial was made in the West Liberty cemetery near Inman.

In failing heath for some time, Mrs. Yoder died Jan. 19 at the Bethel Deaconess Hospital in Newton, where she had been admitted the day before.

She was born Dec. 29, 1861 in LaGrange County, Ind., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Beam. She was married to Herman H. Yoder on Oct. 23, 1887. In 1894 they moved to McPherson County where Mr. Yoder died in 1928. In 1929 she and her daughter Anna moved to Hesston.

Survivors include five daughters, Miss Anna Yoder of the home, Mrs. Tillie Yoder of Windom, Mrs. Weldon (Fannie) Gaines of Harrisonburg, Va., Mrs. Nora Hartzler of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. John (Amanda) Johnson of Conway, one son, William, of Hutchinson; 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
