Life-Long Resident Of Berne Community Dies From Injuries

JOSHUA YODER, 77, SUFFERS FATAL INJURIES IN FALL ACROSS MOWER WHEEL

Berne, Ind. — Funeral services for Joshua Yoder, well-known resident of this community whose death on Tuesday of last week resulted from a mishap at his farm home, took place at the Defenseless Mennonite church here on Friday afternoon, July 5, with Rev. N. J. Schmucker officiating.

Mr. Yoder was widely known in this community, having been a farmer and carpenter here most of his life. He was born west of Berne, October 29, 1868. he was active in the affairs of the Defenseless church, having served as a trustee, and as church janitor until last winter, when ill health forced him to relinquish these duties.

The accident which resulted in Mr. Yoder's death occurred on June 28 as he and a grandson were operating a mower along the road, Mr. Yoder walking behind the mower wheel. The mower suddenly "choked", throwing him across the wheel. At first his injuries were not believed to be serious, but he soon began to suffer pain and was taken to the Adams county hospital, where, on the following Tuesday, he died. Death was due to internal injuries.
