Mennonite Educator And Author Called Away in Death

DR. EDWARD YODER DIED AT SCOTTDALE, PA., LAST WEEK; BURIAL FRIDAY

Word has been received here of the death of Dr. Edward Yoder, widely known Mennonite educator and in recent years Sunday School lesson writer for the (Old) Mennonite conference, who died last week at Scottdale, Pa. The funeral as held a the Scottdale Mennonite church on Friday, March 30. Death was caused by cancer.

Dr. Yoder was an outstanding authority on Greek and Latin in which field he received his Ph. D. degree from the Pennsylvania University in 1928. He was formerly dean of Hesston College at Hesston and dean of men at Goshen College, Goshen, Ind., until 1937, when he was appointed to the church editorial staff by his conference. He was a frequent writer on peace themes, Christian doctrine and Mennonite heritage.

Dr.Yoder was born at Kalona, Ia., July 30, 1893, thus reached the age of 51 year. His wife and one son survive.
