Retired businessman Dies at Goshen

Goshen, Ind.l — Christian I. Yoder, long-time operator of a trucking and storage business here, died at a local nursing home on July 18 at the age of 86. He had been ill one year.

He was a member of the College Mennonite Church, where the funeral services were conducted July 21 by Rev. S. C. Yoder and Rev. C. S. Priest of the Sugar Grove Church.

Born at Shipshewana on July 24, 1877, Mr. Yoder came here from Nappanee in 1914. In 1924 he purchased the Yellow Cab Co. here and founded the Yoder Transfer and Storage, which he operated until his retirement in 1954. The business is now operated by his son, Mearl [sic Merle] Yoder.

Mr. Yoder's first wife died in 1954. Surviving are his second wife, the former Mary E. Thomas, his son, one daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
