Native of Japan Dies When Hit by Train

Goshen, Ind. — Funeral services were held at the Goshen College Seminary Chapel on Sept. 16 for Mrs. James M. (Saiko) Wood, 30, who was killed Tuesday noon Sept. 14, when struck by a train at the College Avenue Crossing on the edge of the college campus.

Her death was ruled a suicide by the county coroner, who said she had been severely depressed and under medical care for some time.

Mrs. Wood was a native of Tokyo, Japan and came to Goshen about four years ago. Her marriage to Mr. Wood took place on May 31, 1967. She was a member of the College Mennonite Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Pamela, three, and Patricia, 19 months, of the home; her parents, two brothers and two sisters, all living in Japan.
