— Life and death of Grandmother Wollman — Katharina Wollman was born in South Russia in the year 1850 Dec. 14, was married to Andrew Wollman in the year 1873. They then journeyed from Russia to North America in 1874. They settled down on a farm near the Jim river where the Tschetter colony was in old Hutchinson county where they resided 12 years. From there they left for Manitoba, Canada where they lived 19 years. In 1909 they returned to the United States again and settled down in Beadle county near Carpenter. On Aug. 29, 1910, her husband died. She then lived as a widow for 20 years and `1 days. In 1912 she surrendered her life to Jesus and was baptized by Rev. J. M. Tschetter and became a member of the Bethel church. She was a faithful member to the time of her death. In the year 1920 she lost her eye sight which made a hard case for her. Because of sickness in the family she left for the Salems Home at Hillsboro, Kansas, where she stayed 6 years and 7 months. She then came back home and stayed with her son Frank A. Wollman the last 16 months. She died Sept. 11. She was buried Sept. 13 afternoon.
