HERBERT W. WOELK

Herbert W. Woelk was born Oct. 15, 1915, at Goessel, Kan., and passed away at his home at 9:20 p.m. March 22, 1959, at the age of 43 years.

His early childhood and youth were spent in Harvey County. In 1933 he was baptized upon the confession of his faith and became a member of the Tabor Mennonite Church. He graduated from Goessel High School.

On Aug. 12, 1937, he was married to Pauline Rhoades. This union was blessed with five children of whom one daughter, Bonnie Lou, preceded him in death.

In 1945 the family moved to Dallas, Tex. While residing there the family joined the Pleasant Grove Christian Church. In 1943 he and his family moved to Valley Center, Kan. At that time ill health had already set in for Herbert. As long as he was able he worked at Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, but as his health declined he had to give up all employment.

For the last three years he was more or less of an invalid. He had a great love and concern for the welfare of his family. He was also interested in church and community affairs. His suffering increased greatly the last few weeks. Often he spoke of his longing to go to his heavenly home. On March 22 he spoke of how he felt the very presence of God in the room and wished he were able to testify of it. He felt he would be going Home for Easter. During his illness he won many friends through the radio. He appreciated the many calls, visits, cards, prayers, and gifts.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Pauline; two sons, William Keith and Robert Lee; two daughters, Pauline LaVerne and Helen Darlene; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Woelk of Newton; two sisters, Mrs Walter Franz of Newton and Mrs. Fred Penner of Beatrice, Neb; one brother, Rudy, of Newton, and a host of relatives and friends. One sister, Elma, preceded him in death in 1936. — The Bereaved Family.
