text of obituary:

MRS. ANNA WIPF

Our mother, Mrs. Anna Wipf, was born on April 18, 1879, in York County, Neb., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Peters. She lost her mother when she was six years old. She received little schooling, for hard work for the children was the order of that day.

In 1892 she moved with her parents to Butler County, Kansas. While living here as a young woman she recognized her lost condition and accepted Christ as her Savior. In 1896 she was baptized by Rev. Henry Wiebe and received into the fellowship of the Krimmer Mennonite Brethren Church.

In 1897 she moved with her parents to the Inman, Kansas community. It was here that our father, John E. Wipf, and mother met. They were married on Oct.20, 1901. This union was blessed with 10 children, seven sons and three daughters. Three children died in infancy.

Our parents farmed in the Inman community till 1906 when they moved to western Kansas. In 1922 the family moved to California, making our home in the Reedley-Dinuba area. Our parents affiliated with the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church. They farmed here also until our father passed away on August 5,1941. A year later mother moved to Reedley.

Mother felt very lonely after father's death, but she was a courageous woman and carried on well. She was a hard worker all her life and enjoyed it. During the earlier years of her life she was not always well but in her later years she enjoyed the best of health and strength.

On Wednesday, Nov. 27, she accompanied her sister and brother-in-law the Los Angeles area to visit her son Edward and his family in Canoga Park. Later in the same evening in her son's home she took sick and suffered severe pains. A doctor was summoned but in spite of all his efforts, she slipped away from this life to rejoice in the presence of her Saviour. Her illness was diagnosed as a heart failure.

She attained the age of 78 years, seven months and nine days.

We as children will remember mother for caring well for us, for her ability to make friends, and above all her sincere prayer life in which the salvation of her family was the chief burden.

She is survived by seven children: Agatha, Mrs. Fred Hamstrom, Dinuba, Calif.; Elias Wipf, Dinuba; George Wipf, Farmersville, Calif.; Anna, Mrs. Peter H. Eitzen, San Jose, Calif.; Marie, Mrs. Bill Satterberg, Kingsburg, Calif.; Edward Wipf, Canoga Park, Calif.

Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two brothers and six sisters, and many other relatives and friends.

The funeral was conducted in the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church on Saturday, Nov. 30, with Rev.. Dan Friesen and Rev. H. R. Wiens officiating. — The Family.
