HENRY K. WILLEMS

Henry K. Willems, son of Kornelius and Maria Martens Willems, was born May 12, 1900, at Inman, Kan. He spent all his life in McPherson and Marion counties. He attended Blaze Fork school near Inman and Inman high school. He was united in marriage with Agnes Linden on March 3, 1926. They shared joys and sorrows of life for 34 years and six months. This union was blessed with five children.

He realized his lost condition and accepted Christ as his personal Savior in 1943 and was baptized on Jan. 2, 1944, becoming a member of the Strassburg Baptist church near Marion, Kan. After moving to McPherson in 1955, he transferred his membership to the Calvary Baptist church where he was a faithful member till his departure. On Nov. 25, 1956, he was ordained as a deacon of the church. He also served as Sunday school teacher, church treasurer and chairman of the building committee.

He submitted to surgery on Sept. 1 at the McPherson hospital and passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 4.

Surviving are his devoted wife Agnes, two daughters, Doris (Mrs. Oren Bartel) of Wichita and Virginia (Mrs. LaVern Weyand) of McPherson; three sons, Albert of Wichita, Raymond of Colorado Springs, and Richard of Wichita; eight grandchildren, two sisters, four brothers, and other relatives and friends. Oren brother Abe and one sister Anna (Mrs. Art Hanke) preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Sept. 7, at the Calvary Baptist church at McPherson with Rev. Ted Bretz officiating. He was laid to rest in the McPherson cemetery.
