NETTIE WIENS

Mrs. Nettie Wiens, wife of the late Rev. John Wiens, Herbert, Sask., passed away at the age of 85, in the Swift Current Hospital on March 15. Funeral services were held in the Herbert MB Church on March 20 with Rev. Herman Voth, and Rev. John Siemens of Main Centre, officiating.

Mrs. Wiens (nee Penner) was born in South Russia on June 17, 1881. In 1902 she was married to John Wiens and they came to Canada in 1925, settling on a farm near Beechy, Sask. She was baptized in 1907 on confession of her faith and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church. The Wienses retired to Herbert, Sask., where Mrs. Wiens' husband predeceased her in 1958.

Mrs. Wiens was active until about a year ago when she went to live with her daughter, Mrs. Peter Peters (Nettie), at Waldeck, Sask. She was invalided for 7 weeks following a stroke, before the time of her death.

She leaves to mourn two sons, Jake and Peter, both of Beechy; three daughters; Mrs. C. Wiebe, Swift Current, Nettie, Mrs. P. Peters, Waldeck, and Mrs. Wm. Peters, Beechy; one sister, Mrs. Patterson of B.C.; twenty-three grandchildren and many friends.
