MARIE M. WIENS

Marie M. Wiens, daughter of Peter and Anna Jantzen Wiens, was born Nov. 18, 1885 in West Prussia, Germany.

Together with her parents and brother John she emigrated to the United States, arriving at Beatrice, Neb. on Sept. 10, 1886. She resided in the Beatrice community all her life, attending the grade school and parochial school during her youth.

On May 18, 1902 she was baptized by Rev. Gerhard Penner and received into the membership of the First Mennonite church.

Since 1914,she kept house for her two brothers, Jake and Frank. Marie was a willing helper in the home of her parents and also in the home of relatives.

Our sister bore her lingering illness with patience. She passed away suddenly Feb. 1, 1960, the first of 11 adult brothers and sisters to die. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Helen, who died in infancy.

She is survived by two sisters. Mrs. Agatha Heiser and husband Ervin of Fisher, Ill., and Mrs. Anna Wiens and her husband, Leo, of Beatrice; eight brothers; Ernest and wife Doris, Gerhard and wife Frieda, Jake and Frank, all of Beatrice; John of Odell; Pete and wife Henrietta of Lincoln, Neb.; Herman and wife Martha, and Henry and wife Agnes, both of Dallas, Oregon; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
