ILLNESS FATAL TO EARLY SETTLER

Jacob J. Wiens Dies at His Home at Mountain Lake, Minn.

Mountain Lake, Minn., April 19. — Jacob J. Wiens, Sr., one of the first settlers of this community, who passed from his life last Thursday morning, was laid to rest in the Mountain Lake cemetery Sunday afternoon. Funeral services were held at the South M. B. church, of which he had been a faithful member. Rev. H. E. Wiens, W. A. Wiebe, and D. P. Eitzen spoke at the services.

Mr. Wiens was born in the village of Rosenort, South Russia, on March 11, 1847, and came to this country in 1876, settling on a farm northwest of Mountian [sic] Lake. In 1870 he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Harder, with whom he was permitted to share life's experiences for nearly 38 years. their union was blessed with four children.

In 1902 Mr. Wiens and his family moved to the city of Mountain Lake, but, in later years, after the death of Mrs. Wiens, he went to the farm home of a son living northwest of here, where he spent the rest of his days.

Mr. Wiens was 81 years of age at the time of his death.
