HENRY WIENS

Funeral services were held on April 6 in the Scott St. Mennonite Brethren Church, St. Catharines, for Henry Wiens, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abram Wiens, who passed away at the Hotel Dieu Hospital in St. Catharines on April 3.

Born in Karlsruhe, Paraguay on June 28, 1947, he came, with his family, to live in Alberta in 1948. After 11 years in Alberta, the family moved to Virgil, Ontario.

At the age of eight Henry accepted Christ as his personal Saviour and in 1963 he was baptized and accepted as a member of the Virgil Mennonite Brethren Church.

In 1965 the family moved to St. Catharines and it was here that Henry became very suddenly ill on March 26. He was rushed to the hospital where it was discovered that he had a very serious brain infection. When his breathing stopped the following day, a breathing apparatus was connected to his lungs but he never regained consciousness. He remained in a coma for 8 days until the time of his death on April 3.

Officiating at the funeral services were Rev. Henry Penner, who spoke on Ephesians 1:1-6, and Phillipians 1: 19,20, and Rev. Arbram Block who spoke in German on John 22:17-26.

Henry is survived, and lovingly remembered by his parents, five brothers, Hugo, Hartmut and David of St. Catharines, Ernie of Waterloo, Erwin of Powassan; three sisters, Elizabeth, Mary and Margaret of St. Catharines; three sisters-in-law; grandparents and many friends and relatives.
