ELIZABETH WIENS

Elizabeth (Harder) Wiens, beloved wife of Henry J. Wiens, was born in Hamilton County, Neb., on May 16, 1884, to Martin and Anna Harder. After nine years in Boon County, Neb., the family moved to a farm near Henderson, where she spent her childhood. At the age of 16 she accepted the Lord and was baptized on April 28, 1901, becoming a member of the Mennonite Brethren church at Henderson. She was a devout Christian all her life, always ready to serve others as well as her family.

On Aug. 23, 1906, she was joined in holy matrimony with Henry J. Wiens. After 14 years on the farm at Henderson, the family moved to Reedley, Calif., where all eight children grew to adulthood. Since 1953 she made her home with her husband in San Jose. In all those years she was a faithful helper and companion to her husband in his labors on the farm and in his conference work as well as on their many travels.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Henry J. Wiens, eight children, Mrs. Marie Gerbrandt and Mrs. Anna Gerbrandt of San Jose, Calif., Jacob H. Wiens of Woodside, Calif., Mrs. Edna H. Wiens of Seoul, Korea, Luella Wiens of Salines [sic Salinas], Calif., Mrs. Dorothy Nickel of Reedley, Calif., and Mrs. Evelyn Ratzlaff of San Jose, Calif.; 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cornelius Harder of Paxton, Neb. and Henry Harder of Los Angeles, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Tina Dick of Dinuba, Calif., Mrs. Marie Stobbe of Abbotsford, B. C., and Mrs. Helen Unruh of Reedley. She was preceded in death by one grandchild and two great-grandchildren. She reached the age of 76 years, four months and seven days.

She went home to be with her Lord on Sept. 23, 1960, at her home in San Jose. — The H. J. Wiens Family.
