PETER WIEBE

Peter Wiebe, husband, father and grandfather was taken from this life suddenly on November 6, 1964, to enter and enjoy the life with Christ in glory!

Born in Winkler, Manitoba, Canada, on May 21, 1895, he attained the mature age of 69 years, 5 months and 16 days.

He was married April 23, 1916 to Lydia Liesch, who survives. Their children are John Wiebe of Bakersfield, and Elsie and her husband Dan Swindell, and granddaughter Nancy Jean Swindell of Santa Monica, California. Three children, Peter, Lilly and Arnold deceased in childhood.

His brothers and sisters living in Canada are George, Jacob, Frank, Isaac, Anna Enns, Elizabeth Peters and Kathleen Worms. Deceased are John, Dick, Henry, Helen Dyck and an infant daughter. His parents, Gerhard G. and Anna Rempel Wiebe are also deceased.

Peter and Lydia Wiebe moved to California in 1923 where he has been an employee of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company for 38 years, retiring within the last year. He was a hard worker, loved the out-of-doors, and enjoyed growing fruit and flowers at his home. He delighted in doing things well and in loving his family and friends deeply.

It was only last year that Peter Wiebe received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour, was baptized upon his confession of faith, and entered the fellowship of the Bakersfield Church of the Mennonite Brethren. His conversion was dramatic and great. In the last year of his life he had a deep experience with God in faith, in reading God's word and in prayer. In these days of parting, this is our greatest source of comfort and cause for rejoicing. The family looks forward to a reunion in heaven when their earthly days, too, shall have been fulfilled.
