MARTHA HODEL WIEBE

Martha Hodel Wiebe, daughter of Christian and Bertha Hodel, was born at Hillsboro, Kan. Au g. 13, 1890. Here she spent her early childhood. At an early age she moved to Reedley, Calif. with her parents. On Sept. 11,1905 she wrote in her Bible that she was born again and the same year, on Oct. 8, she was baptized and united with the Mennonite Brethren Church.

On Dec. 30, 1919, she was united in holy matrimony to Peter F. Wiebe by the late Rev. Berg. This union, which lasted 44 years, two months, and 17 days, was blessed with four daughters and one son. One daughter died in infancy. We made our first home in Reedley, Calif. After spending four years in Los Angeles we moved to Lodi, Calif. in 1926. In 1929, we moved to the San Jose area.

Mother was a very pleasant saint of God. She prayed much for her family and lived daily in the Word of God.

She enjoyed comparatively good health until Sunday morning, March 15, 1964, when she suffered a stroke. She was rushed to the hospital where the Lord called her home to Glory Tuesday morning. She reached the age of 73 years, seven months and four days.

Those who remain to mourn her departure are her husband of San Jose; three daughters, Esther, Mrs. Otto Thiessen of San Jose, Louise, Mrs. Bill Siemens of LaMirada, Calif., Ann, Mrs. Willie Braun of Burbank, Calif., one son, Dan of San Jose; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Lynn of Pasadena, Calif., Mrs. Anna Semrau of Chico, Calif. and Mrs. Bertha Heiers [sic Heier] of the Reedley Home for the Aged; two brothers, Jacob Hodel of Hillsboro, Kan. and Rev. Sam Hodel of Clearbrook, B. C.; and seven grandchildren. Her parents, three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

The memorial service was held in the Mennonite Brethren Church of Redeploy, Calif. with Fev. Dan Friesen officiating. — The Family.
