Former Hospital Superintendent Dies After Extended Illness.

Aberdeen, Idaho, Dec. 20. — A vacancy at the Shiltz Memorial Hospital in American Falls that will be widely felt among the people of the southern end of Bingham county and all of Power county, occurred Tuesday morning when Miss Lizzie Wiebe, for many years superintendent of that institution, passed away at the home of her mother Mrs. Anna Wiebe in Aberdeen, as she lost a brave and patient battle against the ravages of cancer of the stomach.

Miss Lizzie Wiebe was born on October 13, 1888, at Brainard, Kansas to Cornelius and Anna Wiebe. In 1903 the family moved to Hinton, Oklahoma, where her father preceded her into the Great Beyond two years later. When just out of the teens Miss Wiebe came to Aberdeen together with her mother and family, the family home having remained here since.

Miss Wiebe was a student at the Idaho Tech, now the University of Idaho, Southern Branch, in Pocatello shortly after her arrival here. She took a complete course in nursing at the Bethel Hospital in Newton, Kans., from where she graduated in 1918. Returning to Idaho Miss Wiebe accepted a nursing position at the American Falls hospital where her devoted services won for her the Superintendency of the institution several years later. — Aberdeen Times.
