FUNERAL SERVICES HELD AT WINKLER, MANITOBA, FOR JOHN S. WIEBE, 47

Winkler, Man. — John S. Wiebe, father of four minor children, was called away in death here on Thursday, Aapril 18, after a lingering illness of over a year. Funeral services took place at the local Mennonite Brethren church on April 20, with Rev. H. S. Voth, assisted by rev. G. D. Pries and Rev. J. G. Wiens, officiating.

Mr. Wiebe is survived by his wife, Helen, and the four children, Gordon, 17, Alvin, 16, Ruth, 10, and Gilbert, 7; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John G. Wiebe; three brothers and four sisters. He underwent an operation for rupture in February, 1945, and the following July, underwent an operation for cancer.

Born near Winkler November 17, 1898, Mr. Wiebe has served the community at various times as teacher, druggist, and farmer. After attending the Manitou normal school he taught for two years in the Hoffnungsort and Neufeld schools. From 1927 to 1934 he operated a drug store in Winkler, and later acquired a farm near here, where the family now resides.
