JOHN WIEBE

John Wiebe was born to Heinrich and Katharina Wiebe on April 11, 1898 in Margenau in the Ukraine. Most of his younger years, however were spent in Putschkov, Siberia. In August, 1926, he accompanied his family as they moved to Canada and settled on a farm near Elm Creek, Manitoba, He lived in that area until 1938 when the family again moved, this time to Leamington, Ontario.

John Wiebe accepted Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour of his life on November 19, 1939 and in the following summer he was baptized and became a member of the Leamington Church. He worked in the Bethesda Home at Vineland, Ontario for about two years, beginning in 1945, and there he met Miss Helen Regehr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Regehr of Coaldale, Alberta, who became his wife on July 25, 1948. The Lord gave them two children, John and Anna, both still at heme.

Mr. Wiebe lived and worked ,in Leamington until the beginning of an extended illness in October, 1969. He passed into the presence of the Lord on December 2, 1971. He is survived by his wife, Helen, and his children, John and Anna; two sisters, Miss Mary Wiebe of Leamington and Mrs. Henry Enns of Clearbrook, B.C.; and one brother, Henry Wiebe, of St. Catharines.
