HENRY H. WIEBE

Henry H. Wiebe, son of Rev. Henry Wiebe and Mary Zacharias Wiebe, was born Jan. 9, 1873, at Hamberg, Russia. He departed this life October 6, 1944, at 10:L15 A. M. at his home in Madrid, Nebraska, at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 25 days.

He emigrated with his parents from Russia to America in 1876 at the age of three years. They made their home at Hillsboro, Kansas, where he grew to manhood. He received his secondary education at McPherson, Kansas, and at the Salina Normal University, Salina, Kansas. He entered the teaching profession and taught both grade and high school for some 22 years. In later years he retired from teaching and took up farming near Paxton, Nebraska, in 1927.

At the age of 16 he became conscious of his sinfulness and sought and found salvation in Christ and upon the confession of his faith he was baptized and received into the K. M. B. church in 1889. Later in 1933 he joined the M. B. church near Paxton, Nebraska. In his younger years he was very active in Sunday School work and also in the church choir.

On April 28, 1896, he joined in marriage to Elizabeth Thiessen at Jansen, Nebraska, where they made their home for some time. To this union were born nine children; five daughters: Mrs. D. M. Doerksen, Phoenix, Arizona; Mrs. A. C. Suderman, Newton, Kansas; Mrs. G. F. Friesen, Madrid, Nebraska; Mrs. Dan Loewen, Willard Colorado; and four sons: Roland of San Antonio, Texas; John of Dalhart, Texas; Alvin of Dalhart, Texas; and Donald now stationed at New Orleans, La.

He is survived by his wife and nine children, 16 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, five brothers; Jacob, Frank, Dietrich, John and Cornelius.

We mourn his departure yet with the assurance of an eternal reunion in glory. His testimony to his faith in Christ was clear.

Farewell mortality, Jesus is mine.
Welcome eternity, Jesus is min.
Welcome, O loved and blest,
Welcome sweet scenes of rest,
Welcome my Saviour's breast;
   Jesus is mine.
