HELEN WIEBE

Mrs. Helen Wiebe of Clearbrook, B.C., suddenly went to be with her Lord on May 26. She was born to Peter and Marie Hildebrand on October 1, 1897 in the village of Steinfeld, Russia. Here she enjoyed her chilldhood and youth, privileged, in having a Christian upbringing in her home and in the church.

In 1910, she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour during the ministry of missienory F.J. Wiens. Three years later she was baptized, in the Steinfeld Mennonite Brethren Church.

On May 31, 1924 she was united with Isaak Wiebe in holy matrimony, sharing joys and sorrows with him for 46 years until her death.

Six weeks after their marriage, they came to Canada, settling in Herbert,Saskatchewan. The following spring they moved to Kronsgart, Manitoba, where they enjoyed the fellowship of the Christians for 18 years. In 1946 they made their home in British Columbia, first in Yarrow for a number of years, and then in Vancouver, where they spent 18 happy years.

In 1967 they retired, moving to Clearbrook. On Sunday morning, May 24, Mrs. Wiebe suffered from a heart attack and was taken to the Abbotsford hospital, where she died Tuesday morning, May 26.

The Lord blessed her with six children, twp sens and four daughters.

She is survived by her husband, Isaac Wiebe; two daughters, Lena and her husband David Abrahams, and Betty and her husband Henry Penner; one son Peter and his wife Elvira, all of Vancouver; six grandchildren; twe sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Rempel of Winnipeg and Mrs. Anna Dyck of Steinbach, Manitoba; and two brothers, Peter Hildebrand of Winnipeg and Rev. Henry Hildebrand of Briercrest, Saskatchewan.

The family does not sorrow as these that have no hope. Because they believe that Jesus died and rose again, they are confident that God will awaken these who sleep when Jesus comes.
