FRANK WIEBE

Frank Wiebe was born to Jacob and Marie (Epp) Wiebe at Marienberg, Germany on Nov. 27, 1877. At the age of 11 years, in 1888, he came to the United States with his parents and settled with them near Beatrice, Neb. Here he attended the district school.

On May 25, 1896 he was baptized by Elder Gerhard Penner upon the confession of his faith and became a member of the First Mennonite Church of Beatrice where he remained an active member until his death.

He was united in marriage with Marie Goossen on April 10, 1907. They made their home on a farm in the vicinity of Beatrice. God blessed this home with five children, two sons and three daughters. Together they shared the loss through death, of a son, Carl. In 1936 Mr. Wiebe and his wife moved from the farm, making their home in Beatrice.

Mr. and Mrs. Wiebe had the joyful privilege of expressing their thanksgiving to God for his many blessings as they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1957. Nine months later, on Jan. 28, 1959, Mrs. Wiebe passed from this life. Even though Mr. Wiebe experienced much loneliness after being widowed, he always enjoyed visiting the old and sick of his community.

In addition to his wife and son, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Alvin Linsenmeyer.

After a relatively short illness, Mr. Wiebe died on July 16, 1961, at the age of 83.

He is survived by three daughters, Alma and her husband Henry Linsenmeyer, Helen and her husband E. J. Wiebe, all of Beatrice and Dorothy and her husband Abe K. Friesen of Hutchinson, Kansas, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ella Wiebe of Beatrice; one son, John K. and wife Alice of Beatrice; ten grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Helena Wiebe, Mrs. Henry Epp, Sister Elizabeth Wiebe, all of Beatrice, and Mrs. John L. Seibel of Lodi, Calif., and many other relatives and friends.
