Nursing Educator Dies in Iowa

Wayland, Iowa. — Esther Mae Widmer, 66, a registered nurse who formerly was engaged in nursing education and administration in Iowa City, died Nov. 30 at Henry County Memorial Hospital, Mt. Pleasant.

Miss Widmer had lived in Wayland since forced to retire because of failing health.

She was born near here March 22, 1905, daughter of Christian and Elizabeth (Rediger) Widmer. Surviving are her mother, five brothers and three sisters: Mrs. Clarence (Katie) Roth of Wayland, Henry of Washington, Mrs. Raymond (Mary) Wenger, of Wayland, Paul of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Edwin (Frieda) Freyenberger of Wayland, Dr. Reuben of Winfield, Dr. J. Glen, of Wayland, and Daniel of Albany, Ore.

Miss Widmer was a member of the Iowa City Mennonite Church. Interment and memorial services were held Dec. 2 at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church, Wayland, in charge of Pastor Orie L. Roth. Another memorial service was to be held the morning of Dec. 12 at the Iowa City Mennonite Church, in charge of Pastor Ed Stoltzfus.
