Elizabeth Graber Widmer

Elizabeth Graber Widmer was born in France, Dec. 30, 1856. She grew to womanhood in her native country and accepted Christ as her personal Saviour, uniting with the Mennonite church in which faith she died.

At the age of twenty she was married to Christian Widmer. To this union were born six children.

In the year 1895 they emigrated to America making their home in Henry county Iowa.

Her husband died about seventeen years ago. Since then she and her daughter Anna lived together. About two years ago they moved to Yakima, Washington, where she passed away in the early morning on December 4, 1927, at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 4 days.

The body was brought to Wayland,Iowa, accompanied by her daughter, Anna, arriving at Mt. Pleasant Thursday afternoon Dec. 8. The funeral was held at the Sugar Creek church, of which she was a member, conducted by the home ministers assisted by brother Schrag of the Eicher church, and brother Burkholder of Breslau, Ontario. — Wayland (Iowa) News
