ELFIE M. WIDMER

Elfie M. Widmer, daughter of the late Simon C. and Nancy (Eash) Yoder, was born Sept. 13, 1889, at Nappanee, Ind.; died of a heart attack August 23, 1957, at the Silverton Hospital, Silverton, Oregon, aged 67 years, 11 months and 10 days.

On Nov. 8, 1908, she was married to Dan Widmer at Hubbard, Oregon by the late Bishop David Hilty of Nampa, idaho. Surviving besides her companion are two sons and seven daughters: Urbane of Woodburn; Bernice, Mrs. Charles Kauffman of Aurora; LuElla, Mrs. Wayne Yoder, of Northridge, Calif.; Daniel of Glenwood Springs, Colo; Priscilla, Mrs. Harry Kropf of Albany; Pauline, Mrs. Earl Wyatt of Tangent; Alene, at home in Woodburn; Pearl, Mrs. Morley King of Hubbard; Nadine, Mrs. Virgil Books of Salem; two brothers, Roy Yoder of Quarryville, Pa. and Albert Yoder of Amity; and 25 grandchildren.

She joined the Mennonite Church in her youth and was an active member until death. She will be remembered for her letter writing and visitation of the sick. She not only was a faithful mother to her own children but was a mother to many others in her home. She was deeply interested in the spiritual welfare of her family and of others.

Funeral services were held at the Zion Mennonite Church near Hubbard, Oregon on August 26, 1957, with services in charge of Ministers C. I. Kropf, David Mann and B. M. Books. Her final resting place is in the adjoining cemetery.
