FATAL HARVEST TIME ACCIDENT

Occurred at Noble, Iowa Farm About Noon on Thursday, July 21.

At Wayland, Ia., a tragic harvest-time accident took the life of Edward Widmer on Friday morning, July 22, according to the following item from the Wayland News:

Wayland and community were shocked and grieved to learn Friday morning, of the death of Edward Widmer, 45, a victim of a threshing accident at the Carl Molander farm, known as the Henry Mast farm, three miles north of Noble.

Widmer was working about the machine when his sleeve caught in the knives of the thresher about 11:30 Thursday noon, and before other workmen could come to his aid, he was badly cut and bruised, and suffered possible internal injuries.

He was immediately taken to the hospital at Washington by Carl Molander, where he died about 3 o'clock Friday morning. The body was taken to the Stacy funeral home in Wayland.

Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 and at the Sugar Creek Mennonite church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon with Rev. Simon Gingerich, Willard Leichty and Chris Graber of Goshen, Indiana, conducting the services. Interment at the cmetery near by.
