MRS. ANNA SCHRAG WELTY

Mrs. Anna Schrag Welty of 12257 South Ave., Reedley, Calif., was born in Waldheim, Russia on April 4, 1874, the oldest of ten children of Daniel and Fanny Schrag.

In her infancy her parents migrated to America and settled in the Freeman, South Dakota area. From there they moved to Elmira, Oregon. Here she was united in marriage with Menno J. Welty on Feb. 28, 1895, by Rev. J. R. Schrag.

The Welty family came to Reedley in April 1910 and resided there until their passing. Her husband prceded [sic] her in death August [line duplicated in original, sentence incomplete]

She was a quiet mother, spending most of her time in the home. She had a joyous faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and was a member of the First Mennonite church of Reedley.

Her passing came suddenly on Tuesday morning, Oct. 2, 1956, at the age of 82.

Surviving her are three sons, Delbert of Tribune, Kansas, Leonard of Huntington, West Virginia, Lawrence of Reedley; one brother, Joe L. of Salem, Oregon; five sisters, Mrs. Amelia Kaufman of Monroe, Wash., Carrie of Ritzville, Wash., Laura of Spokane, Wash., rose, Mrs. Ira P. Rowe of Davenport, Washington, and Lavine, Mrs. Joe Foucher of Garden City, New York; and eight nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at the First Mennonite Church of Reedley. Rev. Aaron J. Epp, the pastor, spoke on "The Prayer and the Hope of the Christian." taken from Phil. 1:9-11, 21. A trio comprised of Mrs. Aaron Epp, Mrs. Paul Ruth and Mrs. Alvin Friesen sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Abide With Us, Our Saviour." Mrs. Arthur Krehbiel served as organist.
