LOCAL

. . .

— Burt W. Welsh, a member of the local Methodist church, but who was also widely known outside of his own church circles, was almost instantly killed last Thursday evening when his car and attached trailer were struck by a train west of Eureka. Mr. Welsh was soliciting contributions for the Methodist Children's Home of Newton and was on his way back to Newton with a load of supplies. Evidently the main part of his car was directly in the path of the train when the crash occurred, resulting in his instant death. Mr. Welsh had served during the late war as representative of the Y. M. C. A. in France and alter as a representative of the Methodist church in Poland. Funeral services were held at the local Methodist church Monday afternoon.
