YOUTH DROWNS WHILE FISHING IN SWOLLEN STREAM
Fairview, Okla. — Verlin Dee Weis, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Martens, lost his life by drowning on May 21 while on an afternoon fishing trip in a rain-swollen stream. He had been visiting at the Martens' home here.
Details of the tragedy are not known, but the body was found about a half mile down the river from where it was thought he was fishing.
Funeral services were held on May 24, with Rev. A. Elmer Jantz and Rev. J. K. Siemens in charge.
