text of obituary:

Jerry Dean Wedel

Jerry Dean Wedel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Wedel, was born Sept. 9, 9 [sic], 1935, at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Becker northeast of Goltry, Okla.

At the age of 13 months in 1936 he had a severe attack of intestinal flu, and it appeared as though he would not recover but after his two months of suffering he recovered to normal health.

Sunday, Aug. 4, 1940, he was attending the Sunday School class in good health, but on Monday morning at 3 a.m., Aug. 5, he became sick and was taken to the doctor at Enid, who did not think it so serious. That night be [sic] became worse and passed away at 12:10 a.m. on his way to the hospital.

He lived the brief time of 4 years, 11 months and 5 days.

In his short stay he has brought much happiness and joy to the home. As a flower he has blossomed but a short time and now he has gone to a better home above. The sweet memories will linger on, and we'll miss him, but with God's grace we want to say "The Lord has given and the Lord has taken; blessed be His Name."

He leaves to mourn his parents, two brothers, Billy Don and Charles Marvin; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Becker; Mrs. J. T. Wedel; three uncles and five aunts. His grandfather, J. T. Wedel preceded him in death 7 weeks ago.
