— Frank P. Wedel of Galva, 56 years of age, died last Sunday evening at his home. Mr. Wedel had been ill in bed for some time but was still able to come to the table for breakfast on Sunday morning, when a serious cough attacked him, followed by a stroke of paralysis. Funeral services are to be held at the Emanuel church at two o'clock Thursday afternoon, conducted by rev. J. Ratzlaff of Newton and Rev. P. H. Unruh of Goessel.

Frank P. Wedel, son of Peter and Helena Richert Wedel, was born January 27, 1882, in McPherson county, Kansas. He grew to manhood in the parental home and received his education in the nearby district school.
On June 17, 1904, he, with a class of eighteen converts who had received catechetical instruction, was baptized upon his confession of faith in Christ Jesus as his personal Savior and Redeemer by the Elder Peter Balzer from the Alexanderwohl church. He herewith joined the Canton, now the Emmanuel church, and has always been a loyal member of the church.
On October 29, 1905, he was married to Anna Decker, daughter of John and Elizabeth Decker, by the Rev. Abraham Ratzlaff. This union was blessed with four daughters, Hilda, Verna, Flossie and Violet. In this union they have shared joy and sorrow together for almost 33 years. About a year after they were married they moved to the place where they have lived since that time. They worked hard and by God blessing their work they were able to prosper and live contentedly.
He has held different offices in the church. At present he was treasurer of the committee of trustees. He was slow to argue about church affairs and was always glad to see difficulties settled in a peaceful way, and thus to have harmony and build the church.
He was always a healthy person until July of this year when he had a light stroke which affected his back and neck. He sought relief in treatments from a doctor and it seemed that he was improving. However, in September he again had a relapse and on the 16th of that month he was taken to the McPherson Hospital where he recovered sufficiently in a week that he could go home.
Again hope for his complete recovery was held but on Sunday morning, October 16, while eating breakfast with the family, he again had a stroke and at 6:15 in the evening he passed away.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his family for whom it is especially difficult to understand his much too early passing, namely, his dear wife, Roy and Hilda Unruh, Lincoln and Verna Unruh and 3-year old son Waldo, and Flossie and Violet of the home. His 76-year old mother and 86-year-odld mother-in-law mourn deeply his departure, as do also three brothers and nine sisters: Carrie, Mrs. Henry T. Unruh, Blaine, Washington; Rachel, Mrs. D. b. Unruh; Lea, Mrs. P. B. Unruh,; Mary, Mrs. L. C. Decker; Agnes, Mrs. J. W. Decker; Sadie, Mrs. Dan Dalke; and Miss Ruth, all of Galva, Kansas; Susie, Mrs. F. F. Just, Lehigh; and Lillian, Mrs. I. J. Thomas, Hillsboro; Jonas J. Walter; Eben P. and Martin P., Galva. There remain 17 brothers-in-law, and 10 sisters-in-law, many relatives, friends and acquaintances.
He attained the age of 56 years, 8 months and 26 days. He was ready to die as he himself said. Therefore, we mourn as such that have the best of hopes, and trust that we shall meet him in glory with the Lord. May the Lord who has been gracious unto him also prepare us for eternal life.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Emmanuel church with Rev. J. J. Ratzlaff, pastor of the church,a nd Rev. P. H. Unruh of Alexanderwohl, officiating. a men's quartet from Goessel sang several numbers. — The Family.
