Founder of Stirling Avenue Church in Kitchener Dies

Rev. Urias K. Weber, founder of the Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church in Kitchener, Ontario and grandfather of Rev. Ralph Weber of Newton, died on Dec. 13. He was 92.

Funeral services were conducted at the Stirling Avenue Church on Dec. 15 with Rev. James Reusser, the pastor, officiating.

Rev. Weber was ordained as a minister of the First Mennonite Church in Kitchener in 1907, and served in that congregation until he founded the Stirling Avenue Church in 1924. He was pastor of the church until his retirement in 1940, and in 1944 was made pastor emeritus. In addition to his church work, he engaged in farming.

Survivors include five sons, four daughters, 20 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters.
