Second Polio Death In Indiana School

Goshen, Ind. — The death of Orlo William Weaver, 10-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Weaver of Wakarusa, from polio, was the fourth of the season in Elkhart county and the third in the Harrison community west of Goshen. The disease earlier claimed the lives of Elmer J. Christner, 14, and Eldon Christophel, 26. The Weaver and Christner youths were both students at the Harrison Center school, which has been closed at the request of patrons.

Funeral services for Orlo Weaver were held Sept. 23 at the Yellow Creek Mennonite church, Peter Wiebe and John Mosemann in charge. The parents, two sisters and a brother survive.

Two additional polio cases were reported here Sept. 24, bringing the Elkhart county total for the year to 60. They were LeRoy Troyer, 14 year old son of Seth Troyers of Middlebury, and Allen Yoder, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cephus Yoder of near Nappanee, who became ill while attending Eastern Mennonite College, Harrisonburg, Va. Both are reported in good condition.
