Moses M. Weaver

Moses M. Weaver was born near New Holland, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, October 28, 1868; died of bronchial tuberculosis, near Hesston, Kansas, August 2, 1928; aged 59 years, 9 months, 4 days. He was married to Maria Hess December 21,1893. To this union were born 5 sons and 2 daughters. The oldest daughter, Grace, preceded him to the spirit world three years ago. He is survived by his wife, 6 children, 6 grandchildren 5 brothers and 2 sisters. At the age of 12 he came with his parents to Harvey County, Kansas, where he resided during the rest of his life. He was converted and united with the Mennonite church in 1894, and remained faithful to the end. He served as Superintendent of the Pennsylvania Sunday School for a period of time, and taught a men's class for a number of years, resigning the place only when his failing health made it impossible to continue teaching. He was elected a member of the local board of Hesston College and Bible School at its founding in 1909 and was retained in that position until just a few months before his death.

Funeral services were held at the Pennsylvania church Sunday afternoon by D. H. Bender of the college and Harry A. Diener of Hutchinson. The large attendance at his funeral gave testimony to the esteem in which the deceased was held in the community. Not more than half the people were able to find room in the church. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church. — Hesston Gazette.
