Member of Bluffton College Staff Dies

JOHN E. WEAVER WAS HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER FOR TWENTY-FIVE YARS

Goshen, Ind. — Funeral services for John E. Weaver, 70, assistant treasurer of Bluffton College, Bluffton, Ohio, were held at the Eighth Street Mennonite church here Sept. 17. Rev. Robert Hartrzler, the pastor, officiated and burial was made in the Clinton-Union cemetery.

Mr. Weaver, who lived alone at Bluffton, was found in his home there Monday morning, Sept. 5. It is believed a heart attack caused his death on Sep. 3.

A native of the Nappanee community, Mr. Weaver was a graduate of Goshen College and at one time served as business manager of the college here. For 25 years he was commercial instructor and school treasurer at Goshen High School, going to Bluffton College after his retirement in 1949. He was a member of the First Mennonite church at Bluffton.

Mrs. Weaver, the former Elnora Kauman, was killed in an auto accident in 1947. Surviving are a son, Dr. Richard Weaver, member of the Bluffton College faculty; a daughter, Eleanor, secretary at Prairie View hospital, Newton, Kan.; five grandchildren; a brother, Rev. Wm. B. Weaver of Bloomington, Ill.; and three sisters, Mrs. C. P. Shideler of Goshen, Mrs. Chester Dunithan of Topeka, and Mrs. Earl Salzman of Nappanee.
