MRS. MARGARETHA WARKENTIN

(Mrs.) Margaretha Warkentin was born to John and Agatha (nee Kroeker) Konrad on September 22, 1896 in Tiegenhagen, Molotschna, southern Russia. In September, 1921 she married John Warkentin, also of Tiegenhagen. They emigrated to Canada in 1925, settling in Winnipeg. Both were baptized on the profession of their faith in August, 1928 and received as members of the Winnipeg North-end Mennonite Brethren Church.

At the age of 33 years, her husband passed away, leaving her with four small children. She was able to provide for her family a frugal but happy life. She found much support and encouragement from her sisters and brothers. Eventually she transferred her church membership to the South-end Church, and in 1960 became a member at the Portage Avenue Church. When her health began to fail, her youngest daughter Margaret nursed her faithfully in her home, until more care was required and she moved to Donwood Manor. There she passed away peacefully on February 2.

She leaves to mourn two daughters and their families, Elsie (Mrs. Nick) Dyck and Margaret (Mrs. Ken) Armbruster; two sons and their families, Jacob and Evelyn and John and Carol; a sister, (Mrs.) Aganetha Kroeker; a sister-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.
