Well-Known Hillsboro Resident Dies at 86

Hillsboro, Kan. — Funeral services were conducted at the Hillsboro M. B. Church for Jacob K. Warkentin, 86, who was active here for many years in civic and business life and in the M. B. conference. His death on Sept. 9 came only five days after the death of his second wife, the former Lena Koop. He had been bedfast for the past 16 years.

A native of South Russia, Mr. Warkentin came to this country in 1894. He held a B.A. degree from Oklahoma University. He was employed at banks here and at Inman, and for some years was clerk of Marion County. He also served as Hillsboro city clerk and as a member of the local school board.

In the M. B. Conference, he served on the board of publications as well as the Tabor College board.
