Isaac Warkentin

Inman, Kansas, jan. 11. — Isaac Warkentin, 84, was found dead in bed at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Isaac T. Penner, northwest of Inman Sunday morning. He had been bedfast for the past two years as a result of a stroke of paralysis.

Mrs. Warkentin, his aged wife, died only a little over a week ago, on Dec. 30, age 82, a victim of pneumonia following the flu. Her funeral was held at the zion Mennonite church near Inman, Jan. 2.

Mr. Warkentin was born on Feb. 13, 1845, in the village of Blumenstein, South Russia. As a youth he was converted and baptized. On Dec. 20, 1864, he was united in marriage with Katharina Penner. They came to America in the year of 1874 and first made their home in Blumenhoff, Manitoba, Canada. In the year 1915 they moved to Lubbock, Texas. Mrs. Warkentin passed away on Feb. 14, 1920. In the year 1922 he was united in marriage with the widow Anna Toews. They have been making their home with the Isaac T. Penner family in later years. Mr. Warkentin practiced medicine for 50 years and did much to relieve suffering of humanity. On Nov. 30, 1927, he suffered a stroke of paralysis and gradually became weaker and weaker. Since Nov. 1928 he had been helpless. He passed away on Sunday, Jan. 6, at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 24 days. He leaves to mourn his departure 4 sons and 2 daughters, 36 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Funeral services are being held at the Zion Church this Thursday afternoon.
