Corn, Okla. — Funeral services were held at the Mennonite Brethren Church here Friday, Dec. 1, for H. J. Warkentin, an early pioneer of this community, who died Nov. 28 in the Clinton hospital.
His death came just one day short of his and Mrs. Warkentin's 55th wedding anniversary, which was Nov. 29.
Aged 81, Mr. Warkentin saw this locality develop from a frontier community to the prosperous settlement it is today.

HENRY J. WARKENTIN
Henry J. Warkentin was born to Henry and Kathrina Goossen Warkentin at Neukirch, Russia, Sept. 27, 1880.
At the age of seven his father was called home. Together with his mother and stepfather, Rev. Cornelius Hiebert, they came to the United States and settled in Kansas near Hillsboro. On Nov. 29, 1906 he entered holy matrimony with Anna Leppke, daughter of Abraham and Susanna Wiens Leppke, which came to an end one day short of 55 years.
In 1908 they moved to Oklahoma and settled on a farm north of Corn. In 1917 they moved to a farm southwest of Corn. In 1948 he retired and moved to Corn where he spent the remainder of his days.
On Nov. 24, he was taken to the hospital for observation. On Nov. 29 he suffered a heart attack from which he never recovered. At 3:30 a.m. that morning the Lord called and he went to his heavenly reward, reaching the age of 81 years, two months and one day.
Earlier in life he recognized his lost condition and accepted Christ as his personal Savior. On June 6, 1897, he was baptized by Elder John Foth at Ebenfeld, Kan. After his wedding, he rededicated his life to the Lord. He remained true to the church until the end.
Father was a farmer all his life. He was a member of the district school board for 13 years.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Anna, Corn, Okla.; eight children, Louise, Cimarron, Kan.; Alice, Mrs. John G. Dick, San Jose, Calif.; Irwin, Corn, Okla.; Sue, Mrs. Earl G. Hardt, Abilene, Texas; Abe, Corn, Okla.; Martha, Mrs. Hartwill Pass, Stillwater, Okla.; Ruth, Mrs. Donald M. Fourier, Kinsley, Kan.; and Viola, Mrs. Allen Huebert, Reedley, Calif.; two daughters-in-law, five sons-in-law, and 19 grandchildren. Also remaining are two brothers, John H. and Jacob K. Warkentin of Hillsboro, Kan.; one sister, Mrs. D. K. Hiebert, Buhler, Kan.; two step-brothers, Dr. P. C. Heibert, Hillsboro, Kan.; Dr. Dan Hiebert of Massachuetts; three step-sisters, Mrs. Bartel Ebel and Mrs. J. W. Classen, Hillsboro, Kan.; and Sarah Hiebert, Reedley, Calif.; and a host of relatives and friends. — The Bereaved Family.
