TRAGEDY IN OKLAHOMA

Corn, Okla., Nov. 7. — An automobile accident occurred on Highway 14 between Cordell and Bessie Sunday evening which caused the death of one and seriously injured several others. those figuring in the wreck which literally tore the right side of a Ford automobile away were Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Regier and daughter of near Colony and Mr. Irvin Schroeder and Miss Anna Warkentin of near Fairview.

The party had been on their way to Clinton Sunday evening and about 9:30 they approached a bridge crossing the Boggy Creek. Heavy fog and blinding lights from an approaching car blinded the occupants of the Schroeder car which was driven by Mr. Schroeder, Miss Warkentin seated beside him and the Reiger [sic Regier] family occupying the rear seat. Suddenly the driver espied a truck in the road loaded with sand, one of the occupants having gone for help to repair a flat tire. Mr. Schroeder, seeing the truck, swerved the car to the left but too late. Miss. Warkentin’s face was mangled horribly and she died in the Cordell Hospital several hours later. Mrs. Regier and daughter are still confined at the hospital suffering from injuries about the face and body. The two men escaped with only minor scratches. — Washita Co. Enterprise.
