Montana Youth Drowns In Watering Pond

FIVE-YEAR-OLD SON OF DAVID A. WALLS STEPS INTO DEEP HOLE

Lustre, Mont. — This community was saddened by a drowning tragedy on June 13 when five-year-old Stephen D. Wall, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. David A. Wall, met death by drowning in a stock water dam.

His father had been spraying nearby by plane, and Stephen and two of his cousins had asked permission to go for a walk to some hills. On the way they passed the dam and decided to go in the water. Stephen went a bit too far, stepped into a hole and disappeared.

The other two boys took the pick-up truck and summoned help. An older brother who could swim reclaimed Stephen from the pond but efforts to revive him proved futile.

Funeral services were held June 17 at the E.M.B. church, Lustre, with Rev. Johnny Reimer and Rev. Peter P. Wiens in charge.

The youth is survived by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. He was the youngest of five adopted children of the Walls.
