— Mrs. J. J. Voth of the Canton community passed away at her home on Monday morning, and funeral services were scheduled for the Alexanderwohl church on Wednesday afternoon. She is survived by three daughters and four sons.

MRS. MARGARETHA ENNS VOTH

Mrs. Margaretha Enns Voth was born Dec. 10, 1872, in South Russia. She came to America in the great Mennonite migration of 1874.

She was baptized upon confession of faith in her Redeemer on May 26, 1890, by Rev. Jacob Buller, and was received into the Alexanderwohl church near Goessel, Kansas, where she remained a faithful member until her death.

She was united in marriage with John J. Voth on Oct. 12, 1890. They were permitted to share life’s joys and sorrows for over 56 years. On Nov. 26, 1940, they had the privilege of celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. To this union were born nine children, of whom Monroe and Philip died in infancy.

The departed was a devoted wife and a truly Christian mother who had great faith and trust in her heavenly Father. She often said, “Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.” She expressed to her family the assurance that “the Lord will not leave me nor forsake me.” The last night before she became unconscious she said, “If we don’t see each other here again we will meet up yonder.”

During her illness medical aid and doctor’s care was given her in the home and also in the hospitals — at the Bethesda hospital, and in her last illness, at the Hillsboro hospital. The best of medical care was given her, but she passed away to be with the Lord at 1:30 a. m. on Aug. 25, 1947. She appreciated greatly all the flowers and visits, as well as the cards of comfort which she received. Now she had been taken home where pain and sorrow do not enter. She reached the age of 74 years, eight months and 15 days.

One of her interests was the raising of flowers with which she decorated the church, hospital, and home for the aged. She also had a great interest in mission and relief work and contributed in various ways according to her ability.

She leaved to mourn her sudden departure her loving husband and the following children: Charley Voth and family of Garden City; Olga, Mrs. Frank Unruh, and family, Herbert Voth and family of Hillsboro; Frieda, Leo, Rebecca and Roland of the home. Eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the Alexanderwohl church on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 28, 1947, with Rev. P. A. Wedel officiating, assisted by Rev. P. R. Voth and Rev. C. C. Wedel.
