LENA VOTH

Lena Voth was born Jan. 29, 1893, near Goessel, Kan., to Cornelius Sr. and Katharina Voth Voth. She lived on the homeplace until she entered Bethesda Home in Goessel in January 1974. She died march 4, 1989, at age 96.

She graduated from Gordon Grade School and attended Goessel Preparatory School for a year. She also attended Bethel Academy for a year.

Upon confession of Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord, she was baptized June 4, 1911, by Heinrich Banman and joined the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, where she remained a faithful member.

She helped care for her father when he was ill with cancer of the liver. After her parents died, she and her brother Cornelius lived on the homeplace until he was hospitalized for foot amputations. Then they took up residence at Bethesda Home, where she appreciated her comfortable room, care, good food and various activities.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Katy Schmidt, and six brothers, Albert and William, who died in early childhood, and Henry, Peer, Abraham and Cornelius. She leaves many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, with Dennis Schmidt and Aaron J. Epp. Burial was in the church cemetery.
