text of obituary:

KAROLINA STUCKY VORAN

Karolina Stucky was born in Edwarddorf, Wolhinien, Russia, Jan. 27, 1852.

Reared in a home where the scriptures were shown reverence, she as a child learned to love and cherish it, taking pleasure in memorizing many choice passages as well as sacred hymns. From this rich store she was able to draw constantly, which brought her untold comfort after failing sight prohibited her reading and impaired hearing made listening difficult.

She joined the Mennonite church on March 21, 1865. She was united in marriage to Andrew C. Voran, May 10, 1870. To this union were born 14 children, eight of whom together with her husband preceeded her [sic] in death.

As a young wife and mother she arrived in America in 1874, with the group of Mennonites who were seeking religious freedom. Demands of pioneer life left no time for idle hands and each day saw its full measure accomplished toward the building of a Christian community in which to rear her children.

Through ten years less than a century of time she was permitted to participate in and watch the changes of time. She was active for 75 years, after which failing strength closed various avenues of service. Since then she has lived in faith and infinite patience, till she was gently called home on the morning of October 8, 1942.

"The wing of death just touched her lightly
Her life prepared her for her change.
Her flame of faith had burned so brightly,
The passing on did not seem strange.
Through Death, New Life, by moving slightly
Her soul took on a wider range."

There remain to honor her memory two sons: John A. Voran of Pretty Prairie, and C. D. Voran of Augusta; four daughters; Mrs. J. J. Voran and Mrs. Henry Voran of Kingman county, Mrs. H. D. Kopper of Hutchinson and Elizabeth Voran of Newton; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
