FUNERAL FOR MRS. C. J. VORAN HELD AT KINGMAN KANSAS, MONDAY, OCT. 5
Kingman, Kans. — Funeral services for Mrs. C. J. Voran, wife of the aged Rev. Voran, were held Monday, Oct. 5. There was a large attendance at the funeral of friends from various communities. She was 70 years old.
A few days later her aunt, Mrs. Andreas Voran, 90, passed away. The latter's funeral was held Saturday, Oct. 10.

Caroline, daughter of Peter and Mary Kaufman, was born Nov. 18, 1868, in South-west Ruusia [sic], and departed this life on Oct. 2, 1942, at her home near Kingman, Kansas, having attained the age of 73 years, 10 months and 14 days.
When the great migration from Russia took place in 1874, she at the age of six years accompanied her parents to America where religious freedom was promised them. They at first established their home near Yankton, S. Dak., where in her early teens she gave her life to the Lord. She was baptized by Rev. Christian Kaufman, and joined the Salem Mennonite Church.
In 1884, she with her parents, moved to McPherson county, Kansas, where they joined the Hopefield Mennonite Church. Here, on march 4, 1886 she was united in marriage with C. J. Voran and together they shared the joys and sorrows of the world for nearly 57 years. One of the joys of their married life was their golden wedding celebration by the Bethany Mennonite Church.
This union was blessed with twelve children, six son and six daughters. One son Albert Theodore and one daughter, Emma, preceded her in death. She also reared two grandchildren as if they were her own, Cora Voran Krehbiel and Hilda Voran Krehbiel.
In 1907 Rev. and Mrs. Voran came to Kingman county, settling on a farm eight miles southeast of Kingman, where she resided until the end. Here they were instrumental in the organization of the Bethany Mennonite Church, which church her life companion faithfully served as pastor for eighteen years.
The hospitality of her home was known to many. her smile and cheerful disposition endeared her to all. She followed her master in a life of service and her daily life testified for Him.
She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, five sons: Edward, Gustav, Henry and Fred of Kingman county and Phillip of Kinsley, Kansas; five daughters: Anna, Lydia Clara and Esther of Kingman county and Amelia of Gentry, Ark.; thirty grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Jacob Kaufman, McPherson, Kans., and Ben Kaufman, Moundridge, Kans.; four sisters: Mrs. Jacob Stucky, Elyria, Kans., Mrs. J. D. Shrag [sic Schrag], Moundridge Kans., Mrs. Jonas Goering and Mrs. Anna Shrag [sic Schrag] of Pretty Prairie, Kansas, and a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral services were conducted from the Bethany Mennonite church on Oct. 5, by the pastor, Rev. E. J. Neuenschwander, Rev. P. P. Wedel of Moundridge, and rev. B. H. Janzen of Lehigh, Kansas. she was laid to rest in the church cemetery near there.

CAROLINA KAUFMAN VORAN, Nov. 18, 1868, to Oct. 2, 1942, was born in southwest Russia. Her parents were Peter and Mary Kaufman. In 1874 she settled with her parents at Yankton, South Dakota, where she later joined the Salem Mennonite Church. In 1884 they moved to McPherson County, Kansas, where they joined the Hopefield Mennonite Church. In 1886 she was united in marriage with C. J. Voran. In 1907 they made their home in Kingman County, where they were instrumental in the organization of the Bethany Mennonite Church, which Brother Voran served for eighteen years. She is mourned by her husband; five sons, Edward, Gustav, Henry, and Fred of Kingman County, and Philip of Kinsley, Kansas; five daughters, Anna, lda, Clara, and Esther of Kingman county, and Amelia of Gentry, Arkansas; two brothers, Ben Kaufman of Moundridge, Kansas, and Jacob Kaufman of McPherson; four sisters, Mrs. Jacob Stucky, Elyria; Mrs. J. D.Schrag, Moundridge; and Mrs. Jonas Goering and Mrs. Anna Schrag of Pretty Prairie.
