John Vogts of Spring Valley township, McPherson county, aged 62 years, four months and 14 days, passed away at Bethel hospital Saturday night at 9:00 o'clock as the result of an accident which occurred on July 13. Mr. Vogts was repairing a telephone line in his neighborhood when he fell from a ladder sustaining a fracture of his spine. He was rushed to the hospital where everything known to modern surgical science and the best of nursing proved unavailing.
Mr. Vogts had lived in Spring Valley township for 47 years, where he was among the most prosperous and prominent farmers of the community. He is survived by his widow and daughter Dora of the home and a son Otto, who resides in the neighborhood.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Tuesday at 2:00 P. M. and at the Spring Valley Church at 2:30. Interment was made at the Spring Valley cemetery.
